FAQ
Why TEDxBodø?
We in the TEDxBodø-team have a mutual interest in TED and TEDx as a phenomenon because of the clear direction for “Ideas worth sharing” and wish to bring Bodø to the global platform.
We believe this platform makes it more likely to get a bigger audience for the ideas we see worth sharing.
There are approx. 42.4 million subscribers to YouTube TEDxTalks where the TEDxBodø-talks also will be published.
Why TEDxBodø only in English?
There are plenty of events in Norwegian daily, and as Bodø is an international city, we are promoting an international event.
By having TEDxBodø in English, we can share the “ideas worth sharing” on a global level. Let’s share them with as many as possible!
Will there be training for the speakers?
Yes. We will provide training session/s for all selected speakers. More information will follow.
How can I volunteer?

Any ideas on what makes a good TEDx talk?
A great, well-formed idea can be one of two things: it can be something that’s new and surprising; an idea or invention that your audience has never heard about, or it can be a great basic idea (that your audience has maybe already heard) with a compelling new argument behind it that challenges beliefs and perspectives. An idea isn’t just a story, a list of facts, or a general overview of a topic – a good idea takes certain evidence or observations and draws a larger conclusion.
How many speakers will there be at TEDxBodø?
There will be a maximum of 10.
I wish to be a speaker. Can I nominate myself?
Yes. You can nominate yourself – or someone else. If you nominate someone else, please make sure the person you nominate has agreed to being nominated.
Whether it’s yourself or someone else you wish to nominate: Fill in the nomination form – and wait for it to be handled. All applications will be handled after March 31, 2025.
When can I nominate myself/someone else?
The nomination possibility opens February 3 and closes March 31, 2025.
These will then be reviewed and curated. Everyone who has sent in a nomination form will be contacted after the nomination deadline.
How are the speakers selected?
The TEDxBodø-team reviews all (complete) nominations. The names and email addresses are removed when reviewed to ensure anonymity.
I’d like to watch examples of good TEDx-talks. Where can I find some?
These are some great examples of idea-driven talks, we recommend watching these to get a sense of how to center each talk around an idea:
Ed Yong: Zombie roaches and other parasite tales
Tasos Frantzolas: Everything you hear on film is a lie
Latif Nasser: You have no idea where camels really come from
Mallence Bart-Williams: Change your channel
